Why when your battery operated car key doesn't work can u make it workby holding it to your head?

I tried it and it worked! I think it is when the battery is low. Has anyone else heard of this?

Answers:
How many people just went to their front window with their car key stuck to their head. Please tell me i'm not the only looney!

It does work though - I can't usually unlock my car from my front door. Better go and lock it again now.
your body is acting like an antenna
They did it on Top Gear. It actually increases the range of it.
It's probably something to do with heat from your skin - maybe just holding it tightly in your hand would have the same effect
Yeah Clarkson did it on top gear it really does work!
must be the little alien living in there. she must have really wanted to help you out, so she used her powers to fix your key. you should make sure to thank her so that she knows you are appreciative and continues to help you out of sticky situations.

the signal resonates within your skull and amplifies the signal, handy when your outta range but dont know what the medical implications are!
when I am out of range of my remote locking I have found this works, God knows why!, but I can get another 10 metres or so
That's just CRAZY. I can't believe that actually works!
I never heard of that. It cannot be possible
it is interesting!
Dark-knight is right your body is acting as the aerial and increases the range of your bleeper-thingy
I once saw Jeremy Clarkson try this on top gear, but it wasn't because the battery was low. He said that if you put it to your head it increased the range, and on the show it worked.
have you tried wrapping your head with foil
I put it under my chin and slightly open my mouth. Looks goofy, but it is great for remote starts!
,It actually does work . ,
By using this UHF transmitter by your head you are in fact using your head as a directional reflector ,Thereby sending all the transmitted energy in one direction.
The same principal as a parobol .
You can use your throat as well ,I find this works even better.
These are very low powered devices with a much lower frequency than cellular phones they usually just send out a short pulse. I could not think this short pulse would cause any harm.
It works I did it
no i dont beleve so

i have tried mobile phones get closer to it could be dead battery to be honist with you replace it
not smart to puposely send radio signals through your head.
because your body acts like an antenna.like holding the antenna on a radio and you suddenly can pick up that station.yes it works..but there has to be some sort of long term side effects to it such as radiation
You can also put a key in each ear and this makes you deaf..
As well as pretty silly looking.
