Can i carry 4 children in the rear of a car. designed for 5 adults?
Answers:
no
Yes, as long as each child has the proper restraint system. If there are not 4 separate belts in the rear seat, no.
as long as each has there own seatbet and those under the correct hight have a booster seat, what with all that new legislation
no no no no you only have 2 seatbelts and a lap belt so that means you can only carry 3 in the back
I think you need abelt for each to be safe.sounds crowded to me
If the children have their own seatbelts, yes.
If they dont have their own seatbelts, no.
I dont think there are many cars around that have 4 seat belts on the rear seat so I have to assume you are thinking of having the children share seatbelts. This is a bad a idea and very dangerous for the children if you were to be involved in an accident.
Not if they are still alive, as that vehicle doesn't have 4 belts in the rear.
The 12 year old needs a seat belts and the 10, 8 and 5 year olds need booster seats and seat belts unless they are over 4ft 6in.
If you can meet this criteria, then I don't see why not.
This is in the UK.
yes if you have enough seat belts car seats and booster cushions so that they can all be suitably restrained
dont wish to be rude but what a stupid question! if you dont have seat belts for that many people then DONT do it! otherwise you could be scraping a child off the pavement.
Dont do it , youre putting your childrens lives in danger , and children under 6 and/or under 80 pounds should be in booster seats or even better special car seats that can work with the vehicles LATCH system http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=azgbhzfcq. watch this video and answer this question yourself.
If a vehicle is only designed for 5 people, then no you can't as one child would be seated without a restraint. If you do carry more passengers than what you are allowed, severely effects your insurance policy, and they don't take kindly to it.
You have to have a seat belt for each occupant. That is law!
As long as each has their own seat belt. What about this ne law in the UK about car seats though?
This might not be of help in total but at least this can be a kind of comparison with other answers. Yes, those 4 children can sit comfortably at the rear, if you're driving a Range Rover Vogue LSE 4.2. The reason being, It's spacious enough for three, and the other one can lay down on the thick original carpet as the legroom is so spacious that can easily accommodate a person laying on the floor. It's more spacious than its successors, HSE models. However, you got no seatbelt for the child laying on the floor. So..
The govenment has produced a leaflet on the new legislation regarding seat belts/seats and booster seats. You can find it at :-
www.thinkroadsafety.gov.uk/cam.
However it is not clear whether if you put more children in the rear of the car, whether that in itself is illegal. If seat belts are fitted they have to be worn - but not shared. Insurance companies would take a dim view of 'overloading' a vehicle.
