Answers:
you could get any car you wanted really with that money, id get a ford focus as v.reliable or a vauxhall astra again reliable and cheap to fix should anything go wrong
Get a best deal on an audi a3 or a4. for that kind of money you will be able to buy four year old. very nice runners, no problems at all. got mine from there: http://www.cargiant.co.uk/
skoda fabias are very good, cheap and reliable
vw golf very good aswell quite expensive
vw polo strong reliable and within budget
fiesta (new shape)
go on autotrader and put 5000 as your limit and see what come up
If you want a car that wont give you problems try a VW Golf mark 4, you will pick a good diesel one about 2001 for this sort of money. Alternatively if your not to fussed on style any Toyota is a safe bet! Happy motoring!
You might be close to a deal with me if you want my car.
VW golf, durable, reliable, relatively cheap on parts, had my L reg mk 3 for 2 years now without much trouble, so when i part ex for a new car guess wat car ill be getting - u got it a VW golf (newer version)!
If reliability is important then I shoud go Japanese. Honda recently came top in a such a survey.
Car reliability surveys suggest you should confine your search to:
Honda
Mazda
Toyota
www.autotrader.co.uk
have plenty of 2004 Toyota Yaris below 20k miles for less than £5k.
Good luck in your search.
According to the Which reports, the best car is a Honda. Toyota, Mazda.Skoda are up there in the top five year after year. I drive a Nissan, which has proven to be very reliable and economical. The German brands have tended to be no better than average. Renault comes near the bottom. Buy Japanese is my advice.
get yourself a focus but not the 1400 its a bit sluggish, stay clear of the golfs they start burning oil at around 50/60000 miles. 1400/1600 in particular!
Do not buy a french car they are all rubbish as you have found out. Japanese are the best for reliability then vauxhall/ford cheapness of parts. Good luck
Check out the Toyota Aygo, I run a brokerage in Essex and I sell about 1 Aygo a day. They are great cars super reliable and only about £6,500 new! You get free insurance and three years free servicing in that aswell.
I am not biased as I sell every new car you can think of, if you wanna visit our website www.introcars.co.uk that might help you decide.
All of our cars are uk main dealer supplied so they can take your part exchange no problem.
Peugeot 206 best best we have ever had.
