Insurance!what a nightmare. What is the cheapest way to go?Please Help?

Hi guys. Ok, we're trying to take out insurance in the UK and my boyfriend is a UK citizen but grew up in Zim and so has a Zimbabwe drivers licence (had it for 8years!). Now we wanna get cheap insurance. Haven't yet bought the car but we're looking for something like a 1.3 or 1.4 with a small engine to keep it in the lowest category. Can you recommend a company with helpful service and good rates? I've been on tons of sights but I just get the feeling that it is all a scam and a trick to make you commit to spend more than you can afford. Any help would be great! Thanks.

get your cheapest quote then try phoning these guys:
www.adrianflux.co.uk
or
www.elephant.co.uk

And see if they can match it.
I have been with Elephant for 3 years and before that Admiral.co.uk their parent company.
don't think cheap is always the best, i tried that and got ripped off every change to policy, went back to elephant.
get off the web and look in your phone book for insurance brokers , they take your details and search about 20 companies to find the best deal . phone 5 brokers an you've tried 100 companies .
try car supermarket.com or similar site, the other thing is tell the insurance company that ur married even if your not cos it will reduce ur payments cos you are a high risk as a single person driving insurers prefer 2 people for they can swop when getting tired
Try Money supermarket.com or
Fool.co.uk (search as the Motley Fool)
I think your problem is going to be the driving licence. A Zimbabwe DL is not valid in the UK. You will have to check with the DVLC to see if he can drive for 1 yr only as a visitor, but I doubt it. Car insurance is very high in UK, especially for young drivers, and the area you live is a factor. If you are 25-30yrs, small car, expect £750 per year as a beginner driver. OK me dear.
i insured my car three weeks ago i tryed loads of places and found that tesco car insurance was by far the cheepest
Go to:

http://www.confused.com or http://www.moneysupermarket.co.

Whatever the cheapest is there go to that site and do a new quote as you may find it cheaper because on confused and moneysupermarket it may be higher (commission). Example if Tesco is the lowest the open up a new Browser window and type in http://www.tesco.com and a new quote
There is no point going online to get a quote cause as soon as you put in your boyfriends licence type it will decline.

You need to speak to a specialist Insurance Broker who will do all the work on your behalf. Phone Giles Insurance on 01420 82501. They have great relationships with insurance companies that specialise is this type of client.
