Why don't most traffic lights in London have white borders around them?

Answers:
They are reflective and your headlights catch them making them easier to spot.

Where have you ever seen Traffic lights with white borders?
The white band round the edge is reflective - making them easier for drivers to see them in the dark. Probably older sets of traffic lights in London and when they are replaced they should have the reflective edge.
