P Reg Corsa, one rear wheel has locked and will not freeup, been standing for a couple of weeks.?
Answers:
take the rear wheel off and hit the drum with a hammer a coulpe of times and it will free off the handbrake shoes
Brake shoes! Try driving forward or backwards and that more often that not frees them up. If this doesn't work it's a wheel off job.
pay the fine and get the wheel clamp taken off ..lol
just a joke.
the brake callipers are seized, relese the handbreak and rock it loose or dismantel it.
Sound like the brake -So go get your hands dirty and release it. I drive cars at the Southern Auto Auction here in Ct. happens all thew time from sitting. GOOD LUCK!!!! TRY GOING FORWARD AND BACKWARD A FEW TIMES-IT SHOULD WORK-THAT'S WHAT WE DO..
Your E-Brake cable is rusted frozen. Better off replacing it, but you can try to lube it and work the cable back and forth. It may work, but it is less work to replace it.
have fun and good luck.
TRY HITTING THE WHEEL WITH A HAMMER ON TRY DRIVING IN REVERSE
Yes it is the emergency brake cable stuck and I am afraid the only way to get it freed up is to remove the brake drum which will be very difficult so get a big hammer and where the cable attaches to the bottom of the rear shoe pound it back and dont use the parking brake tiil you get the cables replaced
Could be a stuck handbrake cable, squirt loads of WD40 where the cable goes into the wheel and where it splits int two before going to both wheels.
so simple remove the wheels and pur them back it will unlock automatically
Can also be caused by brake fluid seeping from a wheel cylinder. Overnight the brake fluid on brake lining and drums asks like sticking glue.
Better spend the money and get an expert to check and fix it. It may be a more serious problem that affects brake efficiency, and you do want them to work OK in an emergency!
I have just had my Corsa 1.4 MOT'd ( annual check - USA ) and they found brakes sticking and corrosion which had to be fixed.
Moral . Do not leave a car standing for long with the brakes on in a damp climate- chock the wheels instead.!
Sounds like handbrake not releasing , tap centre of wheels with hammer sharply that will userly free them of, it also could be that the brake shoes have stuck to drum the same solution works .if its the handbrake cable get it changed otherwise it will wear out your rear brake shoes
take th wheel off and give the drum a good smack with a hammer
if this does not work sorry new shows as when the drum does finaly come off it will bugger them up
as what casper said and buy new brake shoes as yours are worn to exess.
