As long as you know what speed you're doing in X gear at Y revs then you don't need a speedo. Just think of the resale values when you sell your car with a few thousand miles less on the clock! ;-)
try givin the needle a nudge if its not didgital. mabu the pin has warped.
also try the connecting leeds
have u checked the speedo drive at gearbox
Sometimes the speedo cable comes loose (under the bonnet). You haven't said whether it is the 'clock dial type' or digital?.
could be the cable from the gear box that goes in to the back of the speedo unit has broken i had the same problem with a cinquecento
I had this problem on my gf's cinquecento. I found the clocks end of the cable to have worn and was spinning in the drive. Take the clocks out and roll the car forward and see if the cable is physically going round, this will syou whether the fault is at the box or the clocks, hope this helps.
