Anyone know why an automatic gearbox jumps into reverse but only when cold on my chrysler neon?
Answers:
the neons have several switches on the gearbox the opperate certain things try pluging it in to a scanner
check your fluid level it may be low or you can try having your filter changed also
This used to happen to my neon when I parked it with the bonnet facing downhill. If you leave your foot on the break and turn your engine off and put the handbrake on, does your car then move when you take your foot off the brake? Mine did and I thought the weight shift was probably why I really struggled to get it in gear when it was on a hill. Anyway, it did solve the gear problem for a while to park it with the boot facing downhill, but then the transmission gave up. Go and get it plugged into the diagnostic computer thing before you spend any money on it.
Good luck though - I love neons :)
