Don't buy one of those 60 mph crates they all think they are showroom vehicles and want the earth for them, buy a Mazda Bongo cruses at 80 plus 2.5 ltr diesel engine, power steering and all for about £5,000 secondhand.

If you're looking for one of the earlier VW vans with the flat air-cooled engine, keep in mind that these engines are overworked in this large a vehicle, particularly for highway and mountain driving. Forget about using the A/C. Also, replacement exhaust systems for these cost about $ 2,500. , at least for US VW vans.
