Why is there gb on some car registrations and not on others?

is it because the car with gb on the plate was bought abroad but in uk spec thus being cheaper?

Answers:
It's either personal choice, or the garages policy on the blank number plates they buy. It doesn't have anything to do with where the car was purchased as a foreign dealer wouldn't have UK style plates in stock.
I think it's just down to personal choice.some ppl may travel within Europe on a regular basis, and having a plate "personalised" with a GB badge suits them..
NO
i think now it is law to have gb on new numbers plates?
Depends on how old the car is
It is purely personal preference.

You can have the 'GB' added to your number plates when they are made; you could also have the EU circle of stars logo added as an alternative.

Or, you can have the good ol' fashioned plain plate, with no logos.
It is personal preference
I have a brand new car, and it has a perfectly standard no. plate, so it is not a legal requirement..yet
