What exactly are those 2 black cables that are fixed to the road that we someties drive over.speed traps or?
Answers:
They count the number of vehicles that use the road when the cars drive over them, so someone somewhere can assess whether it is a frequently used road. We have a lot of them around us at the moment because we have been trying to get a bypass around the town for years because of through traffic conjestion. One more bit of evidence to show exactly how many vehicles come through our town.
Excellent question !! I always wanted to know that. I always thought they were to monitor how many people went through the street but, was never quite sure.
They are counting how many vehicles are using the road.
they monitor traffic flow and count the number of cars that drive buy in a certain area for research, maybe to dertime if the road needs upgrades or a light etc
They are usually traffic counters.
usually traffic counters, "sometimes" for speed camera.
Yeah, it is just a traffic flow monitor.
A better one is the lighted warning sign that displays your speed and tells you to SLOW DOWN!
42 mph, 86 mph 128 mpg.He! He! I don't think it works.
there just traffic counters ,the state that you live in uses these to determine how much traffic that road gets so they can know when to do up grades on it or improve it this helps them determine when it might need re-surfacing or when the traffic amount grows to be more sometimes they widen a road, but that's all it is,,good luck
Don't let all these people fool you with the old "counting cars" line. That is exactly what the government would like you to believe. As you can see, many people do. As you pass over them, they record your speed, your name, the number of times you drive that route, what times of day, whether you were tailgating the car ahead of you, and some read your blood alcohol level. This is scary stuff. Too often, the government is monitoring citizens without their knowlege under the guise of "homeland security" or some crap like that.
They are used to monitor the traffic flow, they tell the local authorities how many wheels pass ove it every hour, so they get an idea of traffic flow, they use a formula to calculate the number of vehicles as some have up to 6 axles.
Traffic infomation counters and denserty at certain times as in rush hour
sometimes they tell the amount of cars that go on that road and sometime police use them to tell if on that road people speed a lot so the can position there officers better, oh and most of the time if its near a light its for a red light camera it tells what speed your going at yellow and calculates if you would be able to stop which thats bs because you might be able to stop and still get a ticket
They are for monitoring traffic flow. There are two so that it can determine which way the traffic is flowing by which one gets squashed first.
They're not speed traps but for speed monitoring over a set period (week or so). Basically it lets the authorities know how much use by what size vehicles and at what speeds the road is getting used at. If enough people speed over them expect a speed trap sometime soon.
just to add to the fact that they are traffic counters, the highway authority will also normally do a manual count for a few hours so that they can proportion the traffic counter results into different classes of vehicles
usually these cables are to do with a traffic census,
Don't worry not speed traps they are to count car for traffic surveys
