What are the main wiring points i need to check on my ford escort mk5 diesel turbo, for the turbo to work?

basically,i own an escort mark 5, its the 1.8 turbo diesel model, and the turbo's decided to stop, which has made the car extremely slow! (not like it was a lightning bolt before) i can see that some wires that sit on the throttle body where there's a little red box (looks like a sensor or something for the turbo) are loose, and one's disconnected, but i need to know if this is where my problem lies! as u can probably tell, im not into turbos, but i need this fixed asap as i really on the car to pull my trailer.!! any help will be appreciated

Probably got nowt to do with the wiring, your turbo is probably blown...Go to the garage and get it checked

Did the turbo make any noise? All mine made a loud pop when they blew up. Sounded like a gun going off.
Easiest thing to do would be to remove the air intake tube from the turbo and try to turn the turbos impeller. If it doesn't turn or it's really sloppy then you will need a new or rebuilt turbo.
If it turns and feels tight, start checking vacumn hoses. The wastegaste could be stuck open and venting all the boost into the air.
if the car is smoking bad then its time for a new turbo or go to the scrap yard and get one.
you prob need a new turbo on a car that old prob been thrashed being a ford
