Will a 2inch SU carb work efficiently on a 1000cc mini engine without loss of suction on the venturi?

Answers:
Its too big a Carb for an1000. I would recommend a 1 1\2 . If its well set up, it will do the job. If its power you are looking for, side draughts like a WEBER or DELLORTO are better but there is no point in bolting a whopper of a carb onto an engine without other mods. The cam would need changed and the whole lot rolling roaded. There is also the issue of lack of space behind the engine and the speedo housing will need to be removed to give you the space for the carb.
Your main problem will be matching the intake manifold shape with the carb mouth, the shape and length of the intake manifold are the critical things for carb tuning.
Try contacting the Mini Owners Club, they know all the wrinkles on these things
If you get the correct manifold you should have no problem. If you are doing this to gain more power you would be better fitting either weber or dellorto carbs!
hi if you increase intake airflow you will have to increase exhaust air flow as well:) lots of luck
its too big for a 1000 mini, try and swap for a 1 1/2 inch or two 1/1/4 for best low down response
It will work but mounting its the problem. Not a lot of point though as 998cc mini engine is never going to be fast unless you are prepared to spend large amounts of money on it.
