Have you been on a bus lately?

With the car off the road I was forced to take a late bus. It was a ******* nightmare! No way car owners are ever going to switch to public transport. I'm taking taxis until the car's back.

Answers:
they can be a real nightmare alright
I dont have a drivers liscense so I have to take the bus everywhere. I absolutely hate it. It takes at least 3 times as long to get anywhere, people smell, and waiting out in the pouring rain isnt really what I call a good time.
i honestly cant remember the last time i caught the bus , and after reading your comment i don't think i am missing out on anything.
hope you get your car back soon !!
Know exactly what you mean its horrible, stinky there is no ventilation and you pick up every germ going!
Nice to know that you care about the envoironment so much.
Night bus is worse.

I hate the scratched graffitti on the windows now - hard to see out!
no and never.EXAMPLE: sitting around with sick people, people picking their nose, dirty hands, smell, disease flying around, waiting for bus stop schedule felt like DMV lines ,long walk to home from bus stop
I don't drive, so I have no option..need to go shopping once a week, with my 2 year old..on the bus, I can usually walk on with the pushchair (easy access bus) But if an old one turns up it's a nightmare! But I manage..AND I DON'T MOAN ABOUT IT! Think yourself lucky!!
I use both private and public transport. I live 6 miles away from the closest train station - and the public transport from my village is attrocious. I can't get to work before 0930 and I'd have to leave at about 1600 just to get home.

Instead I use a 50cc moped to get to the station - but I need to have the car on standby as I often visit clients all over the country and public transport isn't usually capable of getting me to meetings on time. It's also not possible to take my son on the moped, so if I want to take him anywhere outside the village the car is essential.

When I lived in central London, and before that in Newcastle Upon Tyne - I had a plethora of choice in public transport, but once you get out of the big cities it is attrocious.

I'm sure everyone could use public transport - but the quality of life would suffer. Imaging not seeing your children before they go to bed because you had to work 5 minutes late and missed the hourly bus. If you where in the car you would loose only 5 minutes of your life.

BUSES - Good in theory, bad in practice.
enviroment or not ,public transit, buses and trains are going to hell, the cities only put in enough to keep the tree huggers happy and dont give a damn about the riders
I've never been in a bus and it's cheaper to rent a car than use a taxi.
Oh.I was in your shoes last year, and it was horrible. Hope you get your car back soon.
its not that bad, i do have a driving liecence and i could afford a car, but i hate trying to find a parking space in the city and i like to think iam saving money and helping the enviornment. yes i love cars so much i just have expensive taste, such as a BMW, iam saving for that! and if i had kids then i would buy a car.
I get buses every day because I have to. To begin with I was like you but now I am used to it and it doesn't bother me and with my handy Oyster card I can use any bus anywhere in town. Hopefully they will start investing some of that congestion charge into better buses - and it would be great if they put the police on them to scare of the baddies.
No, I tried it, didn't like it.
Yes, and i cannot stand them (Travelwestmidlands) they seem to always be full of rubbish and you have to endure the cigarette smoke along with other kinds of smoke, and the drivers are in afraid to confront anyone.
I'd rather walk.
Buses can be annoying
After my car was totalled in an accident, I had to ride the bus for a few months. This was about 5 years ago and the previous before that was 1986.

I have to say I've met some of the friendliest people on the bus. I mean people giving up seats and others paying fares for those who forgot their bus tokens. Some even helping out a bus driver on his first day of work. It was beautiful.

So I don't appreciate elitest jerkoffs like you saying negative things about bus riders. I'd rather ride the bus with the "poor" than share the road with conceited assholes such as yourself. You can go to hell.
You can spend more time waiting for a bus than actually travelling on one.
i try not to take public transport late at night. the buses run like every half an hour and in this cold weather too it's not much fun waiting for it.
if i wanted to travel on a cattle truck i would`ve
been born a cow
The last time I went on a bus was March 1st 2001, it was the only way I could get to the show room, to pick up my new car. I didn't like it then and I'm sure I wouln't like it now
I used one the other week, blooming thing broke down, before we'd even left the terminus!. Had to wait 20 minutes before another bus came out, that thing was old! Did not enjoy it in the least, glad I got my car back. The ironic thing is I used to be a bus driver 15years ago.
Not something I would want to use every day.
I know that some people have no choice, but until the "powers that be" start investing more money in a clean, reliable, cheap, efficient form of public transport, they wont get people to use it.
when I use to go to school I went by train for my friend I went by bus,
but I hated it so much, I thought driving was a dull thing too, when I went college I always walked , I love it I always walk even if its far , I dont like transport at all, but yes I took the train , train isnt so bad as bus , but if you have to go someone you need it but train is good if you want to enjoy your self for the day I have done that many times , but now I have a driving licence , and a car, and my brother wanted to take the bus some where, I offered the car we were like no, but then I said im taking the car and thank god I did I hate bus and there too, I know car is better, if there was better parking spaces it would be even better, but I love car travelling transport is horrible I agree,
