Until around 20 years ago ,most cars had mirrors towards the front of the car on the wings and these were wing mirrors.

In the 1980s they started putting the mirrors on the doors and these are door mirrors

for a lot of drivers an added extra they never use!!.look out for my old Astra..its got the battle scars to prove it..other added extras on vehicles that don't get used..volvos..indicators.whi. vans brakes..I'm sure you can think of lots more..but I'm tired and going to bed..
