Who else think caravans should be road taxed??
Answers:
Why? The car pulling them is already taxed! Does that mean we should start taxing trailers, horseboxes etc. Do you not think that we are being taxed enough in this country without anyone suggesting anymore!!
not me. they are a vital part of British Tourism and bring income to many people. if road tax was introduced then caravanners would not use their caravans and thereby cause a loss of income to many different industries.
I do!
And not allowed on the road during daylight hours or at weekends between April and October.
And made to stay in the inside lane on motorways.
And torched.
they're not always on the road.so why?
take it you have a grouch against caravans
me coz someones dumped one near my mum's and we don't know whose it is.
if it had to have tax there would be some form of registration and therefore someway of finding out who the sh1theap belongs to!
Only things that have an engine pay road tax. Bicycles and Caravans don't come into that category.
I hate these people who have a go at Caravaners all the time. Boy racers, these are the people we need to keep off the roads!!!
They should be limited to 1 journey a year, between the hours of midnight and 6 am. Don't see how you could tax them. ps I own one
No,i do not,we pay enough tax as it is
Only when 3,000 meet for a rally half a mile from the Britannia and Menai Bridges across the Menai Straits [North Wales. UK] That was the weekend
Otherwise NO!
They're only on the road for a few hours each year, so if it costs £120 to tax a car, even a tenner would be disproportionate. When you factor in the extra cost of fuel to pull them, most caravan owners already pay dearly for the priviledge. Add in the sheer number of them & realise that every caravan owner is a voter, there's not a chance. They've even got their own member in the cabinet with Margaret Beckett!
More seriously though, we're already heavily overtaxed, so I wouldn't give the bastards the excuse to even try. I nearly joined the ranks of trailer caravanners, but instead, when road tax increased I switched from a ford fiesta to a motor caravan so as to get better value in the amount of road I was using for what I had to pay out. Mega-surprise - I found I could get round the city a lot faster as I could see over the traffic & the beastie handled like a go kart, much to the grief of a car driver who tried to follow me at the same speed through a bend. Long journeys were just as quick & I found a gret benefit in traffic jams. The kids could play & my wife would make a cuppa. But guess what. We could see the scenery & we slowed down to enjoy it.
Keep your pretensions to being a boy racer in something so low you can't see above my bumper. Live tall & stress free & you'll find you're not even bothered by other motorists.
they should be made to pay tax if there the ones that park them on the side of the road all winter why dont they put them in a storage yard or on there drives
What if their towed by a 4X4? Instant death i suppose?
not me, no way, uh uh !...Guess who owns a BIG caravan! (and tows it with a , wait for it.4x4 !
I agree they should be taxed and have a MOT
no i think they should be hand grenaded at every opportunity.
i spend 20 years of my youth hitching and only once did one of those f*ckers ever stop to give me a lift!
