What does is mean if a car has a guaranteed mileage?

When selling a car, if asked if the mileage is guaranteed, what does this mean? Is it that you have proof of the mileage through MOT certificates?

Answers:
Some of the newer cars do not have clocks which can be clocked (unless you are an electronics expert).

A guarantee is similar to a promise, it really depends on the reliability of the person (or government) making the guarantee.

Never rely on mileage (and NEVER an MOT) as an indicator of a car's worth. You must look at the car on the outside, and the inside. Check the service history book is stamped. Also look at important things like brakes, tyres, steering, and engine before you test drive it.

yes when u get an mot they make note of ur milage therefore for ur milage to be guaranteed u need to show ALL mot's since the car was new even sum repair jobs the technician will note milage so make sure u show everything
sometimes they turn the clock back. check footwear on the brake and clutch pedals for verification.
Don't know how you could guarantee. I have a 15 year old car that I bought new. It has only 47000 mile on it because I have never traveled with it. If I had to prove it had not been rolled back or turned over, I would not be able to do so. Hope there is someone in here that can give you a better answer.
normally if a car dealer sells a second hand car he has to give
a guarantee for a certain number of miles(i forgot exactly how many)
The clocks haven't been tampered with or turned back. Dealerships will prove this with dates of service intervals and are usually accurate although sometimes the system can be tampered with.
this means the mileage its is showing is the correct mileage on the car,,and that it has been verified,, or there is proof of it being original miles on the car,,this is usually done by getting a statement from the original owner when they trade it in,,saying that this is the actual mileage on it,,or they have verified it with documentation,,i hope this helps.
It normally means that the mileage can be verified from new through mot certificates
it mean if U can guarantee the mileage of the car in right, if U had the car from new then it easy to do that, but if not, U don't know, it may have been around the clock once, or even been clocked b4 U got it
They are wanting to know if that is the actual mileage.
That the odometer is accurate.
means what ever you see on the speedometer is the correct one and guaranteed to be so.
