If i didn't fix my clutch would it cause any more damage etc?
Answers:
Well if you dont get it fixed you wont be driving anywhere soon as it wont go at all.
no it wont do any damabe but could leave you stranded cos when it goes you will have no drive so get it fixed ASAP
no your car well just not go when it is out
if you just leave it you will have to pay to get the car towed somewhere and then fix it. there is always a possibility you will over rev the Eng. the flywheel will definitely be ruined and have to be replaced that will be more money. have fun creating a bigger money pit with your car because you don't want to get it fixed.
the longer you drive it, the more it cost to repair it, PAY ME NOW OR PAY ME LATER :)
Fix it NOW, it certainly will cause a lot of damage, pieces of metal will get loose in there and will destroy the engine. If you can't, just put the car or motorcycle away till you get the money.
yes
If you live it and it seizes up whilst you are driving, you will, at the minimum, to be towed - which will cost you more, as it will be an emergency situation when this happens it is also possible that you will have an accident that will cause more damage, so i would suggest that you get it done now.
I burned out the clutch of my company van driving up a hill and some person driving a truck very nearly gave me a push - they were so on my back bumper - you have no alternative but get it fixed
get it fixed ASAP.SAFTEY OVERIDES EVERYTHING.
other than the damage you will cause to the clutch and as someone else pointed out the flywheel-- you will have to replace the pressure plate and throw out bearing. This is part of a normal clutch change. The flywheel commonly has to be resurfaced or replaced. It standard procedure to inspect and fix if needed. other dangers of continuing to drive are the clutch going out just as you start into oncoming traffic, causing an accident. you can also cause damage to other parts of you engine and transmission.
Borrow the money and get you car fixed, or ride a bicycle. your choice
Yes, this is urgent. You will end up damaging the fly wheel, too.
It is your responsibility to keep your car road-worthy. Imagine not being able to change gear in traffic?!!! Oh my goodness.
Get your car off the road until you can afford a repair. If it is going to be a while, it might be worth getting it SWORN-ed off. Then you can get a road tax refund for a month or so.
Below is an expert's opinion for why you should change the clutch:
In the case of a clutch that no longer can maintain sufficent friction between the clutch plate and the flywheel, my experience has been that upon shifting from a lower gear to a higher gear, and this is especially noticable under medium to heavy acceleration (but can occur even during light acceleration if
the clutch is in real bad shape) the engine RPMs climb out of proportion to the speed of acceleration of the car (similar to acceleration in an automatic equipped car) because the clutch is slipping. In the early stages the clutch can lock up (so speak) with the flywheel and the engine RPMs will drop when this
occurs. In later stages, the clutch can continue to slip, overheating the clutch, and the flywheel to the point the flywheel may become unsalvagable from the excess heat which can result in hard spots that if not removed will cause new clutch problems.
Speaking from personal experience, when the clutch finally packs up hill starts will be impossible as you'll keep rolling backwards. It'll also make other parts of the car overheat and wear out quicker.
Better do it as soon as you can.
It will just wear your clutch out. Won't be able to change gear but no more damage will be done!
I have never had to put a clutch on one of my vehicles in 20 years of motoring as I use the clutch properly in the first place.
Sell the car and buy a push bike.
btw : " can anyone recommend the Farfisa TS600 organ synthezier? I'm looking to buy a synthesizer for a pressie "
Yeah right ! - nothing like priorities !
yes it will do more damage than just the clutch itself, when the clutch is made it is rivited together, when your wears down to approx 5mm them rivits start grinding on the flywheel, then from where it slips they cut grooves in the flywheel which in later life (once the new clutch is in) the clutch wont grip propperly, even once worn in and at optimal performance state. then theres a chance of the gear syncros going out too, but this mostly only happens when the clutch cable needs adjusting BUT can happen on the clutch dieing out, As for bits of it coming off and going in the engine?! hahahahaha well for any mechanic or person who knows what there talking about you should know that the engine it a completely seperate unit of the engine to the gearbox, secondly the engine and gearbox are 100% sealed so no debris etc can get inside to cause damage, and if you arent a mechanic or dont know what your talking about, then why the f**k are you trying to guess the answer to peoples problems?!?!?! why waste your time?! anyway.. yes mate i would seriously recommend getting a new clutch asap, otherwise you will end up paying out more money, by the sounds of it, youve allready caused yourself some problems, gd luck tho i hope this has helped you..
Yes you do.
yes you do ASAP The vibrating under the bonnet is do to the pressure plate in the clutch assembly starting to loose the impact of the pressure plate springs causeing a inbalance a spring could even be broken. You will no dout need a Thrust bearing a pressure plate then the clutch plate that is the clutch assembly. The fly wheel surface is were your clutch plate distributes the power from the engine to your drive incorporated in the fly wheel .Is some times a spigot bearing where the main shaft of the gear box fits in. Behind the flywheel is the crank shaft between the crank shaft and fly wheel is a oil seal .Thats a .brief out line of explanation of the clutch
