Power steering pump which type do i need apparantly there is 2 vauxhall astra?

apparantly there are two types any one have any idea how i find out which one i need. trying to get the part off a breaker to save my cash, so need to find out myself, there is a barcode on my exsisting one but its half rubbed off any other way to find etc. its a vauxhall astra x reg 2001 hatch 1.6 help!

Any Vx dealer should be able to tell you which type you need. They will ask for the vehicle chassis number or VIN. You don't have to buy from the dealer . just get the info

you can tell by the shape and size of the reservoir bottle - the pump is at the bottom of it - there are two types one has a narrow neck and small cap like a coke bottle - the other is a fatter bottle with a flat wide cap - usually the later on your age of car. the bottle is the at the back of the engine - on the right.

check for coolin fins on metal base of electric pump. one type has fins one doesn't. there should also be id letters on pump. have one if your interested get back if you need more help. good luck.
