In America, it is illegal to drive without a driver's side mirror. If there is a inside rear view mirror the passenger side mirror is not required. If there is a passenger side mirror, the inside rear view mirror is not required. There must be a minimum of two mirrors operational at all times to be in compliance, one of them has to be a driver's side mirror. Operational meaning: adjustable, and not cracked. Anyone who tells you otherwise just hasn't gotten caught or ticketed.

Leagally you need 2 mirrors in your car. So as long as your rear view and passenger mirrors are still working then you can drive without it. However I wouldn't recommend you do it for long.it is surprising how much you use it without realising.

Unless the mot requirements have recently changed it used to be that as long as you had two of the three mirrors fitted it was an mot pass.
