Pre year 2000 ( i think) RFL is calculated on engine size, under 1.5 is £130ish and over 1.5 is £170 for the year. After this date is is calculated on CO2 emmisions.
It is now done more on emissions than engine size now I think, though of course larger engines have larger emissions.

if all depend on when U car was registered, if it is pre 2000 i think, then it done by engine size, below 1.6 and then above.
after 2000 it is done on the amount of CO2 the car produces in it exhaust emission, the more it pumps out the higher the tax, i have a 1.1 fairly new, and i can get cheaper tax on my 1.6 Capri
