How do I get to Alexandra Palace on the train from Rayleigh, Essex?
Answers:
Take a "one" Great Eastern train from Rayleigh to London Liverpool Street, then either walk or take the Circle, Hammersmith & City or Metropolitan Line Westbound to Moorgate.
At Moorgate, follow the signs for "Trains to Stevenage" (Platforms 9 and 10), and take any train from there to Alexandra Palace station.
When leaving the station, turn RIGHT onto the footbridge to go out the "main" exit, and turn left from there, then take a W3 bus heading towards Finsbury Park, which will drop you right outside the Palace itself.
The best ticket to buy would be a One Day Travelcard, which would cost you £15.00 (£9.90 if you have a Railcard), and you should allow around 1 hour 45 minutes for the journey.

To get to Ally Pally your best off using the Lambeth walk!

You can use their door-to-door journey planner to estimate the time it will take you to travel.
Rayleigh - C2C to Fenchurch Street. Walk round the corner to TOWER HILL underground station. Take a CIRCLE LINE train "via Kings Cross" (shown on the train indicator like that, otherwise you'll end up going the long way round the Circle!). Get off at KINGS CROSS and take the main line train to ALEXANDRA PALACE (Wood Green)
OR - from Kings Cross, the Piccadilly Line to WOOD GREEN, then it's a short bus ride to Ally Pally, but if it's a special event there, there'll probably be a special bus service laid on for it.
Journey time from KX to AP - allow half an hour.
