If you buy a pre reg carand find it has been repaired, what are your rights?
Answers:
take the car back with the paperwork and REJECT it. they are in breach of contract. fight them until you get satisfaction

As an afterthought though, you could consider asking the dealer if he's aware of yahoo answers and whether he'd like you to include his phone/fax/e-mail details on this board along with his name?
Surely it could not be sold as brand new then!?

You should always take a professional mechanic with you buying second hand cars. If it falls apart instantly, you're covered by the Sales of Goods Act - good not fit for purpose it was sold for, but I doubt you'd have much luck getting a successful prosecution to get your money back.
A pre reg car is sold on the basis that it is "as new" or in showroom condition. It should certainly not have rust, and in any case this would be covered by the corrosion warranty of the car. Take it back to the dealer and demand that they get it more professionally repaired. If they are uncooperative you can invoke the corrosion warranty.
its called "let the buyer beware" you should have had the car looked at before you bought it.you are pretty well stuck with it at this point .you can do the same thing and sell it , if your not happy with the car.
