What is the difference between normal oil pumps and performance oil pumps in motorsport?

Answers:
Sports pumps deliver higher pressure and can take the high rev,s
usually it's the amount of oil it pumps
MORE FLOW AND OR MORE PRESSURE
Normal oil pumps are for the whole gamut of possible uses and performance pumps are for competition, this could be more flow to keep a racing engine with huge crank and other clearances from blowing up or a smaller pump to reduce the power required to turn it, even a blueprinted pump to ensure it performs to manufacturers spec or an iron body pump where the alloy one distorts, as in Devimead BSA replacement pumps, or an alloy one where the iron is too heavy.
If in doubt fit a brand new standard item.
In fact if you change main bearing or Big End shells a new pump is a always good idea
Better flow and more pressure to help the engine cope with the extra power.
