I can only think of the Iron Duke, a broad-gauge engine designed by Brunnel. It was named after the Duke of Wellington.
Since the steam trains took on the work formerly done by wagons carrying supplies , it was for this reason they chose to call them the Iron horse .
horses.because most travel was by horse and it was a new invention
Iron horses, and the first train was Stephenson's " Rocket" I believe, but I never understood how people in them days knew what a rocket was

Yes that's right they were called iron horses cause of what they replaced & the first locomtive was called stephenson rocket but it could only travel @ a speed of 13 miles an hour it wasn't much of a success.
