Does anyone know roughly how much it would be to get a timing belt fitted in an 1996 renault laguna?
Answers:
perhaps 'phoning a Renault dealer might be a good idea. Whatever you decide on no account EVER fit a second hand cambelt. Be aware that some engines also need new tensioners and/or guide blades fitted at the same time and that a main dealer will warranty the work up to the cost of replacing your engine if it all goes wrong.
i had a '97 megan my belt cost 35£ inc fittin but i went to da breakers yard to get the belt then sumwere diff to get it fitted i dont think u lookin @ more than 40 tops
I would expect to pay about £100 in my area (North Wales)
I hope you're looking to replace one before it breaks, if it has broken it could be very expensive as some of the Renault engines are interference motors. This means if the belt breaks while the engine is running it can hit the valves that are not moving in sync with the engine. This will damage the valves and they require removing the head to change. Should the belt just need changing, any shop should be able to give an accurate estimate before doing the job.
If you're in the United States, it will cost about 150 - 160 dollars. The prices posted for the UK are about right when converted.
