Vw passat 03, how do i change the headlamp bulbs?

i have purchased two new uprated bulbs but the handbook says entrust the changing to a dealer? Also what engine oil does the TDI 130 use pls?

Answers:
Raise the hood, look just behind the headlights on each side, you may have to release a clip to remove a small cover. (On a Jetta, the battery cover muct be raised), you will see a small wire clip, turn this, and the bulb will come out, in its socket. remove the old bulb, insert the new one, being carful not to touch the glass with bare hands, use a tisssue or rag, Insert the bulb in its base, and turn the clip back in place. As for oil, theTDI recommends synthetic, good ones are Castrol Synthetic, or Mobil Synthetic. In milder climates, 10-30 is fine, in Texas, we use 20-50.

Good Luck.

Handbooks always recommend using the dealer - they get more money that way. Headlamp bulbs are straightforward to change. Change them by unscrewing/unclipping the cover for the headlight in the engine bay. Diesels use 10/40 oil but I'd recommend using one for turbo diesels. Synthetic or part synthetic is best
take the old ones out and put the new ones in, then do the hokey cokey
Just did this myself. And it can be done easily. First distiguish wether they are the regular or high beems. If they are the hight beems you will need to romove the plastic backing behind the light in the engine area. then you will need to slightly twist the light connection clockwise to get the bulb/wires out of the light housing. then remove and replace the light and remember how to return the light back to it's original possition. If it is the regular beems the process is the same however, the bulb is different, and instead of removing the back plactic housing you will need to pop off the rubber back housing.

You should know that the VW dealer can do this for you for about $20 per light. They should not charge you labor as it will take them about 10 min. to do the job. Sense the cost of the lights at the parts store are about 15 bucks ?? YOur choice.

Sorry don't know about the oil.
Brians correct with regard to oil 5/w/30cc semi synthetic is recomended by Vauxhall .The cc is a specification for diesel oil .Regards Mick.
