Is it possobile,or very difficult to steal a car that is fitted with an immobiliser?

i have been told that even if a car is fitted with an immobiliser it is still possible to steal.

i've heard that it'll mess up the immobiliser if you put a speaker on the bonnet, the bigger the better as the magnet should screw up any alarms and immobilisers.
Why do you ask?
Easy, you lift it with a hoist onto the back of trailer and drive it away. The immobiliser can then be disabled at ease.
If someone wants something bad enough, it can be stolen, no matter how many high tech gadgets are protecting it!

Yes you can still steal a car with an immobiliser. Addmitidely it is harder, but it doesnt stop someone from smashing the window, takin off the handbrake and pushing you car away. No im not a thief , but it happened to me !!
Anything is possible. Anytime an anti theft device is made some one finds a way around it.
It is very possible! I know some people who know how and it's amazing the knowledge thieves have!
With identity theft anything is posable. Lets say some one tows your car to a dealership and says I lost all of my keys. Here is my fake drivers licence and insurance ID card. That dealer might not call the owner on there records to find out the car is stolen.
Special programable keys keep cars from being stolen And every year the manufactures throw in another wrinkle like computer to generate a ID code from a pin#
modern high tec stuff is easy to bypass. old fashioned iron bars are another matter.
a thief want you car, he doesnt want to have to open the bonnet to find oiut why it wont start, he'll move on. i dont even lock my volvo. sure you can pick it up and tow it away..but its 18 yrs old.and youll be seen on the hundreds of traffic cameras across the city.
and in ten years ive come outside to find my doors open on many a morning. they dont break my windows, and the 13mm coiled steel cable around the wheel, and crooklock seems to deter them.
Ive just read an article and apparently all they have to do is replace the immobiliser unit with another.
It depends greatly on how well the immobilizer has been fitted.
If a cat 1 with ALL black wires coming out then it can be a bit of a pain to remove. However when some berk ripped mine out and then gave up - it took me only about 15 minutes to work out which wire went where - and I am not a car thief - just practical.
If a car has a factory fitted immobilizer that is PART of the engine control unit - then they can be INCREDIBLY resistant - though as has been mentioned already - it does not stop simply towing the car away!
As a general rule, a professional car thief can be in and away with pretty much ANY car they want - and in a staggeringly fast time.
Oddly enough, home-brew gadgets can sometimes cause more problem for them than professional ones. The hidden switch under the armrest that is inline with the fuel-pump feed for example might be a real %^&* to locate and find - especially because the engine will fire up and then splutter/die a few moments later.
No, to an experienced car thief its just something else to steal. I used to have a Vauxhall Omega with an Immobiliser problem, to give you an idea how simple it was to override, as long as you turned the key to the ignition on position, you could put a screwdriver accross the starter motor and start the car, then just drive away.
i used to use a golfing umbrella to do this as it was easier to reach this way and looked so stupid it was comical.
The only people I have ever known immobilisers to bother are the car owners!!
