phahx the poh pohs. they are annoying anyways.. organized crime is what i think.
I am a name!!..NOT a number!
by the time that happens there will be no oil left to use it
Wow that is kinda scary and wierd. But I guess those who have a brick foot, will learn the speed limit real fast!!
yea, america land on the free, what a joke. whatever, im moving to europe anyway where it IS free
big brother is coming to your home real soon.doh
i heard about this 3 years ago were it shuts the engine down on theft ibelieve the germans invented it and is allready in use in german moters i.e mercs
actually, i knew this was coming. in fact for years there has been a safety device in some cars where if you are speeding when you get in an accident the car won't start again (my sister got busted by my dad on that one - probably 20 years ago now).
there's already similar things in a lot of cars where it automatically pings your speed and there's a lock on how fast you can go.
i don't necessarily think this is a bad thing, so long as it doesn't get used improperly.
It's gonna be both a fantastic idea and bloody annoying! If you creep one mile/hour over by mistake (say going down a hill) just twice then thats it: you're stranded? Can't be right: people would be getting stuck everywhere. RAC and AA would have to hike their prices up to deal with the numbers of towings, and the Police won't know how to handle the sudden traffic jams when motorways come to a standstill 'cos too many people accidently snuck over.
The only good thing that could possibly come of it is the possibility of reducing accidents and deaths. However, if people suddenly can't drive 'cos their car's stopped operating, how many more sccidents will occur when following dsrivers don't realise?
Gonna get very messy: if its true that is..
It won't work. And if it does, I'd be amazed!
Sounds like a policed state to me - not a good idea.
But also, since I don't break the law when I am driving, it sounds like a fabulous idea!
On the other hand - yes I have three hands - it is not speeding that kills - it is BAD DRIVING!! If people kept distance, drove carefully, there would be no need for things to get to this extreme. I like to overall idea, but not sure on the whole 'control' issue. Bit like '!984' - the film and George Orwell book.
Wow, yet another conspiracy theory.
The car should shut off fuel when you answer your mobile phone when driving! It should also have something programmed into the car door handle, so only the owner can open it (preventing theft). I think very soon every car should be built like "Knight Rider" - bit far fetched or not?
Good thing I live in the USA!
Anything electronic can be by-passed or hacked. If it comes to the U.S. I'll have fun making it do that to police cars when they are speeding to the nearest donut shop.
Dear Karlos,
REALLY !!??
Well, I think I'll mention it to someone and see what they say.
Interesting idea, does just about sound plausible . Seeing as my current car is 17 years old, this may not affect me for 32 years!
Why not go the whole hog and ban all personal cars: just have monorail style cabins, all the same, that you just get to the nearest road and take the next "car" (cabin ) that comes along. They would never speed or overtake!
Thanks for bringing this up , a good "water-cooler" topic!
M
What a crock of sh*t!!! I work in the mobile industry and there is nothing even planned for the market like that. how on earth would they control Pay As You Go mobiles which don't even have a registered user??? In my opinion total male bovine excrement
My thoughts are, hmmmmmm, time to move out of this "Allah's coming" country!!!!
Puts all performance car manufacture down the swanny!!
that's just another way to take peoples freedom away it;s all bullshit they make it sound like a good reason until they start using it the wrong way the government is the most corrupt thing on the planet worst than any drug dealer or a thief they them selves need to stop making stupid ******* laws and **** whats wrong with wanting to go 150 on a country rode it's fun what if the wrong person gets this they can just shut your car down and blow your ******* head off
oh hell no! of course i really shouldnt be upset about this i never speed, well not very often. gotta love that cruise control. but by the time this takes effect the world will prolly be outta oil anyways~
do they have any early predictions on how many wont get mailed crippled or killed or grow up with out a father or mother or. u do the math I think its a brilliant idea eventhough it does impose it also saves lives! But then again I always obey the law..
if i ever have a motor with one of those gizmos i will rip the bloody thing out and run a new fuel line from the tank to the engine. problem solved.
f.uck that
A real safety hazard, not to mention a hazard to the human desire to improve as a race.
There are many occasions having a powerful car has saved me, and all of us have been saved by the prevaliance of powerful cars. If we didn't have cars that could do 200MPH + we'd never have had a reason to develop brakes/suspention etc. that could control a car at this speed. This would result in cars still needing 240ft to stop from 60-0, as apposed to the 125ft average cars need today, not to mention an average vehicles ability to maintain its course and speed in hazardous conditions such as bad weather. If we had no reason to improve, we wouldn't, therefore we could never try to create solutions to current problems, and we could never be ready to respond to new problems as they arrive. It's a dangerous precedent that could kill all human life on this planet, by destroying our will to live.
if they don`t want us to break speed limits then all cars should be manufactured to do a maximum of 70mph why produce cars that can do 160+ whats the point although as a anti theft prevention mobile phone controlled thingy i like that aspect of it
I think its cak and could be easily sorted as for the dim wit that said cars shouldnt exceed 70mph well then taht would mean you can still go 70 in a 30 mph zone freaks like you shouldnt be alowd on the road or drive cause you aint no driver
How much wil it cost?
This police state we now live is a reality we are now becoming aware of more every day ,your tale is just one more confirmation of the fact
