Why aren't females taught anything about car engines in school?

It would stop them getting ripped off, no?

Answers:
I wasn't taught anything about cars at school at all, probably why I've never learnt to drive
'cuz they choose not to take the classes that are available to them.
We don't always get ripped off, my dad taught me about cars.
Hi, I'm a male who went to a boys school in Britain. I didn't get taught anything about car engines either. It's not part of the national curriculum. The only time I've been ripped off is by National Auto who charged me for tyre insurance without telling me. The thieving bast*rds. Otherwise I have looked into the general symptoms/cost of repairs for my car.
Usually the only way to learn about cars in school is to take a vocational class. This class is offered to Males as well as Females. So it is up to you why you didn't take the class. It should have been availble.
Its all about natural interest. While boys will pay attention to stuff like car engines, you'll find most girls in deep discussion about what 'colour' the flowers on the ''seats'' should be!

having said that, some 'females' can surprise you with their knowledge of these matters. (including football and DIY)
Cos they're too busy learning about washing machines and ovens
my wife say why dont men learn ironing?

and men get ripped in garages just as much, if not more than women.. women get ripped because teh garage regards you as gullible and not knpwing any better.it regards men as stupid who should know better.

ive been in this game all my working life.. my advice, tell the guy youre going to get a second opinion, and phone around..
Because they do not enjoy greasy fingernails and oily clothing. Talking about engines is not enough, people need to be `hands on`, something not popular with young girls. Learn about car maintenance through evening classes, go with a friend - learn and save cash.
because we are so clever we get men to drive us around. and even they do not understand engines..that is why they get their bloody cars serviced.
Well, I don't think anyone's taught a great deal about car engines anymore. I think school's more focused on teaching kids how to pass exams anyway, and reciting Shakespeare.

The only way I learnt much about car engines was on a basic mechanics course, and I only ended up there with me being a bit of a car nut.
The high school I went to did have "girls auto" I think that females should know something about automobiles but sometimes it is not their interest
why don't you put in that suggestion at school, thats a good idea, all women could use a class like that,
Why are they not taught anything about 'cooking' and 'nutrition'? That would possibly stop them getting ripped off with the garbage sold as food there and stop raising so many 'fat' kids too.

Sash.
im a male and i didnt get taught anything about cars in school, now im a mechanic with my GNVQ levels 1&2 and currently studying on my level 3 :D all comes down to.. if you want it. go get it :D i must say tho i do like to see a female into mechanics, its something i hardly see and i am NOT sexist.
Technology moves on too fast.
Car engines either work or they dont, even finding the spark plugs can be a major operation and even simple operations like changing a wheel can end with people dead so perhaps schools should leave this subject alone, for Boys as well as girls
Instead of complaining about schools no teaching females about car engines why not take a course on car maintenance, at least then you will know something. If you really like working on cars, take night classes at your local collage.I never had any training at school but when i was young my dad showed me many things about looking after cars. You are the only one in control of what you want to learn. My ex wife was doing her motorbike training and had to pass a piratical test in maintenance,so i was her teacher in this she was top of the class yes over all the men she came out top and passed her motorbike training and her test first time.So come on you should do the same it might be you that can help some one one day.If you have the time, come on go for it who knows you may have fun.
No it would not stop them from getting ripped off? Does it stop anyone from getting ripped off? They do offer those classes just like parenting and sewing do you see many men in there? Your going to get ripped off some time or another regardless of your sex. Just because you know about cars doesn't mean you won't get ripped off.
Everyone had a lesson on basic car stuff at my school - it was only a basic hour or so going over the basics like checking/topping up oil but was better then nothing
Well males aren't either?
good question ,perhaps they shouldn't be taught anything about being allowed to drive cars at school (or afterwards) either
It would just be a waste of time, anyway you need all of the time you can to learn the important things like, cooking, washing and ironing.... only joking! Lots of men could do with teaching about the car, problem is we think we know it all already!
