How do u know when your wishbone has gone in an 98 escort gti??
Answers:
knocking noise comming from near one of the front wheels, i have one gone on my escort turbo and when i hit a bump, hole or speedbump i hear it knock, not THAT expensive or hard to repair :D and its not super dangerous to have gone either, but if it has gone i would recommend it changed :D
you should hear a noise coming from the front of the car it sounds like a ratlle coming from the wheels
Do you mean the front lower suspension unit?
If so you should be able to just look!
If you are getting graunching, grinding noises they are due to the spring moving in the wishbone they are just due to rust. You could dismantle it and clean it out but a drop of oil often does the job.

Klunck Bang Knock every time you go over a bump.
Or maybe check the wishbone on the chicken you have pulled.
Or up on the ramps and have a look under the rear wheels.
Hope this helps
When the wishbone on my Fiesta went I would be driving along then the car would do a little swerve to the right! Nothing too extreme, just enough to scare the **** out of me.The car was still drivable though I probably shouldn't have but it was quite unnerving!
If someone is claiming to have the bigger half and refusing to divulge the wish they have just entered into, theres a fair chance it has gone and you didn't win
Best and easiest way to check most of your front suspension is to jack the wheel a little off the ground, put a tommy bar under the wheel and wiggle the tommy bar up and down.
Any play on your wishbones, tie-rod ends and ball joints will be seen this way.
While you are doing that, check for play on your wheelbearings as well by holding each wheel and moving it slightly - side to side.
You'l see a load of flashing blue light's , loadsa women dressed as nurses and a nice comfortable bed to lay in for about 6 mth's .
