What makes a caravan roadwearthy?
Answers:
a caravan is nothing more that a trailer. It has to have lights on the rear, a reflector on each side at the rear. It has to have an independant breaking system, a tow hitch in good nick and a split pin in place. It also should have an emergency chain, attached to the vehicle chould the tow hook and eye fail.
If you got that, you should be ok
Nothing makes a caravan roadworthy.
they should all be destroyed and dropped into the atlantic forever.
It should be a criminal offence to own a caravan!
In my opinion a roadworthy caravan is one that can travel at more than 15 miles an hour, and that doesn't flail about everywhere and freak out all the people in the cars behind it. That would be good enough for me.

It's the car in front that makes a caravan roadworthy. No service, MOT or tax is due on any type of trailer so you could legally build your own out of lego.
I don't believe there are any laws governing trailers (which a caravan is currently classed as). It must have reflectors along the side and indicators, lights, and good tyres (should be changed every 5 years). I believe that the wheels are in motion to bring in compulsary annual servicing for caravans. Best thing to do is take your van for a service to make sure it's roadworthy because if a wheel drops off (for example) and causes damage, you'll be liable.
