I have a Volvo 480 turbo it keeps losing water .all pipes ok. rad ok .head ok.can anyboudy tell me why ?

some times i see water leaking at backend of motor.
not exaust

Answers:
there is 2 possibility's to your problem,
1, you have a corroded/leaking core plug at the rear of the engine block,
2, the cooling pipe to your turbo is seaping into the turbo and blowing it through your motor?
hope this helps?
ty.
sounds like the seals need checking to me.
sounds like a soft plug to me.or a leaking intake manifold..
throw some sodium silicate at it :)
Are you running the air? The condenser will ice up and when you shut the car off, the heat from the engine will melt the ice. Ta-da water!
The only way an engine can lose water if there are no external leaks (pipes hoses etc) is if the head gasket is gone or there could be a small crack in the head and water is leaking into the cylinders. If it were leaking into the oil, your oil would turn milky in colour..my vehicle does the same thing, although small amounts of water are leaking into one cylinder, not enough to cause it to miss fire though! Best thing to do it have your water system pressure tested!
CRACK AN EGG INTO UR RADIATOR, WILL SEAL LEAK, oops ss 4 caps, if it wont seal then ur exhaust, prob back end has gone, change it b4 u have to replace much morexxxxxxx
Do You have a leak?
Either your water pump, radiator cap, or a freeze plug is the only things left. I do not know how they connect to the heater core on a Volvo, but it just might b a leaky heater core/hose.
if this vehicle is intercooled that would be where i start . have it pressure tested
check with a pressure gauge on the rad then ull see the leak maybe waterpump area or intake manifold or even heater pipe going into through the panel to the inside of the car with a gauge ull find it ,if oil is browny white or milky on oil filler cap then u have head gaket problem !! ps u should have water coming out of exhaust as it means hydrogen and oxgen makes h2o just a drop or so is the best mixture for the atmostphere
I WILL HAVE IT IF YOU DONT WANT IT SERIOUS
Check the overflow bottle for a cracked seam or small hole.

If it's the head gasket you should see stains where the coolant is seeping out. Also you will smell a "sweet" smell when the coolant steams on the hot engine as it seeps from under the head.
Sounds like a core-plug rotted out. The actual core-plug will cost pence, the labour to get to it and replace it may cost a fortune.
have you checked the heater matrix?
Depending on the year, i would say the head gasket as gone

I hope this helps.
have you changed the thermostat? have you checked that the thermostat housing isn't leaking?
could be cylinder head gasket
