Is a brand new mini one convertible good for a person who has just passed?

i have just passed my driving and have bought a mini one convertible. i love it! do you guys think it is a good car for someone who have just passed or are like my parents who said i should buy a £2000 car to be a better driver?

Answers:
i will have a high insurance premium but wont b harder 2 drive than anything else about. Also have better saftey and security features than an older car
Should be starting with a basic model car to build up your driving history of No Claims Discounts. While a Mini Convertible is very nice, I would never recommend a brand new car of any kind to someone who has just passed their test
It really doesn't matter what we think or tell you now. Your parents told you previously, not to buy new for your first car. Your mind was made up and you took no heed. However, within time, you will see that they were right.
a great little car. you won't have the maintenance problems of an older car, or the safety issues - some old cars can have poor brakes, faulty suspension and all sorts of awful things. A 2K banger could cost 1500 a year in repairs.

My tips are - (1) be careful where you park. Not next to a rough van who won't care if he dings you with a door, not on the end of a row just outside a night club. etc (2) with regular servicing, this car could be reliably yours for five to ten years.

have fun
if you buy a cheap car you will learn a lot about cars as in how to fix small probs and if you have a bump or a scrape you arnt that really botherd, but if you have a shiny new one and you come out of the supermarket and theres a trolley resting on ur car ur heartbroken, ive been there and done boath, but would rarther have a shiny new covertable any day, lol.
what are you asking for if you have already bought it?
to answer yor question though, no i dont think they are a good car for someone who has just passed a test, you should be restricted the same as motorcycles either by engine size or horsepower until you can drive properly, only difference between the mini and a 2k car is the mini will cost more to fix when you crash it.
You don't think £180 a month is too much for insurance?
Are you paying or your parents?
£180 a month? I only pay £35 and my car's brand new, plus I am a fairly new driver!
do u realise what £180 a month means over ten months..

thats £1800 ..geez.thats a bump..ideally u wanna get a cheap car .with a small engine.drive it for a year.under cheap insurance and build ur no claims.then get cheaper insurance and a flash car,..then ull love it more.

180 a month on insurance is alot.then rem petrol..road tax..service..mot..etc. car will cost u a bomb..
