How long can you keep a provisional driving license without using it?

Is there a time limit between getting it and starting lessons? Also is there a time limit between taking the theory/ hazzard perception and practical?

Answers:
Mine is about 50 years. It goes on forever.

UK
3 years as i got mine a few months ago.
i got my provisional when i was 21 and my dad bought me 10 lessons. i lost my job so i couldnt continue but it says my license is valid til 2012

but my friend has just got her provisional and hers is only valid for 3 years.

plus its good id when you go into pubs and clubs!
A provisional licence is for life.

The expiry date will be the same as for a full licence (when you're 70). You do not need to pass a test, but if you do then you have two years to exchange your provisional licence for a full one or you will have to take your test again.

If, after obtaining your full licence, you get 6 endorsement points on it within two years it will be revoked by the DVLA and you have to re-apply for a provisional licence and re-take your test.

There is no current restriction on how long you may hold a provisional licence before you take a test or even begin to learn to drive - apart from having to re-apply when you reach 70.

There is a break of up to 3 mins between the theory and hazzard perception test; I believe there is a time limit for taking the practical test after theory, but this isn't in my line, sorry.
depends on the state you are in call dmv.
up to whebn your 75 years old

so i was 17 got my pro and it was when i was 75
your license (including provisional) will have an expiry date on it

after passing your theory test you will have two years to pass your practical driving test . if you don't then you will have to resit your driving test.

Foro any queries just contact DVLA
no time limit on the licence other than the expiry date on it, take your time, I had one for years before taking the test
There is no time limit before starting lessons, just make sure that you allow enough time to become proficient and pass your test before your provisional licence expires ( The days of Provisional Licences being open ended have long gone).
Your theory test certificate is valid for two years from the date of your test. If you do not take your practical test within this two year period you will have to take another theory test. There are no exceptions to this rule.
its 10 years then you have to get it renewed.
5 years and then your history
The provisional lasts for 2 years whether you use it or not!
I think its a year to take the practical within.
PROVISIONAL? What's that?
2 years is correct, it's to keep useless drivers off the road.
You can keep your provisional license untill it expires and the date will be on your licence. There is no time limit on when or how you take lessons just remember you need someone with you who has had their full licence at least 3 years for the type of car you are driving and are displaying L plates with valid insurance.
The theory test is valid for 2 years from the date you passed. If you have not taken & passed the practical test before it expires you will need to retake the theory test again. I do not know about a time limit between tests although i would persume there would be a 3 working day limit seeing all other proces's need this time to go through ie taking another theory test after failing booking another car test etc.
Have it framed and mounted,,then you can keep it forever
