How can I get off tamper proof screws from my car's ECU?!?
I've been told by someone to go at it with a chisel and hammer.any other ideas, or will this work?!

buy a set of tramper proof torxs bits from your local auto parts store
Get yourself a set of security screwdrivers. Maplins sell them.
Don't use a hammer & chisel!
You can buy screw removal kits from Halfords, B&Q, ebay etc.
Descripe the tamper proof screws.
Are they torx with a little pin in the centre? If so, chisel out the pin with a small screwdriver and then use an allen key to turn the screw. Job done.
You could try drilling it.
Chiselling might do more damage with the vibration.
Or leave it in Liverppol for a night.
If it is a torx with an anti tamper pin then bits are readily available but a round head, well if you can get it off the car try and drill down into each bolt and use one of the old "Easy out" stud extractors, or my favourite bash the pointed end of a file in and turn the bolt with mole grips on the file. Dont bust the file off.
Hammer and chisle is fine but tiny hammer and an old jewellers screwdriver sharpened up and be careful.
What ever method first put a decent drift on the end of the boly and tap it not too hard, but the shock will hel loosen the bolt.
What screws you going to use to put it back together?
Maplin do some good little selection boxes of 2.5 mm upwards nuts and bolts at quite a reasonable price.
Tamper proof bolts are used for a sound reason, to prevent you realising your £1 pocket calculator has more computing power than your £ 500 ECU , thats the reason.
look in screwfix they sell loads of different bits
