What is so special about mica painted cars?

Answers:
There is nothing intrinsically 'special 'about a mica painted car.A paint finish containing mica is generally more expensive than a solid or normal metallic paint. The mica content in the paint refracts light in different ways depending on how the light hits the surface and at which angle you view it from, this gives varying hues of colour.Depending on the amount of mica content the effect can be very slight or very pronounced, like the paints used on some TVR's.The mica paint generally has to be applied over a coloured basecoat to achieve good coverage therefore making it more expensive to apply.Hope this helps
