How do you combat driving test nerves?
Answers:
I was so nervous on my test, about 30 seconds in, the guy told me to go straight on & I got in the left lane as my driving instructor always used to go left at that junction. I did the whole test thinking I had failed because of that but they guy passed me & when I asked him about it he said they do understand people get nervous & make allowances, especially right at the start, as long as you don't do anything dangerous .. maybe I got lucky but I'm sure they see a lot of nerves, just focus on the road & driving safely.
Good luck, I'm sure you'll be fine !!
I doubt that there is anything that will settle your nerves. It is a natural reaction unfortunately and is the same for all of us.
The only recommendation I can make though is take it easy, deep breaths, and good luck.
Valium
Dr Bach's Rescue Remedy - never fails - available from Boots and all leading health shops.
Get Pissed
I took bachs rescue remedy, its totally natural made from flowers, driving instructor gave me it, calmed me down. They use it in some hospitals, I even used it on 2 yr old temper tantrums with brilliant results.
Good luck with the test
Think of it as a normal lesson, that's what I did, it also helps to talk to the examiner about anything if he/she is chatty, mine was, it was less nerve racking.
Just view it as another driving lesson.
That's what I did, and passed first time.
Have a few pints of Stella before going along that should calm the nerves
take a deep breath and dont be too confident.dont panic either.just relax.i passed mine coz i didnt panic.though i wasnt expecting to pass.so it really helped alot! ;-) goodluck!
Do multiple practice tests until you are spot perfect on the written exam, and then do multiple driving tests with a fairly critical but verbally nice driver today. Have that person drive with you and go far enough through enough conditions that they will pick up the kinds of mistakes that most examiners will trip you up on.
Use the military's 6P rule: prior preparation prevents piss poor performance.
Just pass it. That'll cure the nerves right quick.
Relax. If you fail, you can take it again. Pretty much everyone is nervous at a driving test.
If you've got your parallel parking down, you're good to go.
Good luck.
If you have a friendly doctor they may prescribe either a very small, mild tranquiliser or a beta blocker, it depends what works best for you.
The herbal remedies also work for some - and you don't need a prescription.
Otherwise pretend the examiner is dressed in something funny, then you won't feel so pressured.
Did you know that your examiner doesn't need to have a driving license? They only need to be able to assess your driving. Feel better now?
Good luck

Good luck! I passed last friday (the 13th!). Take your time, take lots of big breaths, your examiner will be able to see past your nerves, and know if you are safe to drive.
be calm and dont be over confident. remmember the examiner is human too and above all do what they ask treat them as a someone you know
meitate, avoid caffine, and remenber it's not life or death that you pass( it could be if you don't bother and drive anyway)..i tried 5 times, was under pressure from my old job to pass on the first 4 and failed, got made redundant 4 days before the 5th and passed, so try to reduce the pressure
Just stay calm, and class everyone else on the road as an idiot, that worked for me.
Good luck, and happy driving.
