About road tax?

i've just bought a car with no road tax and i am unable to tax it without my insurance which should arrive in the next couple of days. is it legal to drive it even though it has no tax cos it will be back dated anyway when i get it

So you've paid for your insurance? Go onto the DVLA website and do the tax on there. They have a database of who is insured and who isn't and also they can tell if you hve an MOT or not. THats the way around it! Don't drive until you have sorted the tax out though!
I was told if you have no tax, the insurance is void anyway.
So I would check this out first if I was you.
your insurance company should have given you a cover note to get the tax disk untill all your paperwork has been properly completed. you are not legally alowd to drive or park your car in a public place without road tax.
Hi Cheif
Don't drive it at all, The police don't even need to know your name they know now by computer if your car is not tax are insured. Be safe not sorry
Yes it is legal but be careful where you park it.If you get a ticket on it just pay the road tax backdated and you will be fine i have done that with cars in the past. And watch out for these new cameras that can pick up a car without currant road tax
It's illegal to either drive it or to keep it on a public highway without tax. However there is an unspecified period of grace for situations such as yours; this depends on your particulr police constabulary. They're likely to just get you to produce all your documents at the cop shop within 7 days. For god's sake make sure you have an MOT though or it invalidates your insurance.
No tax = no insurance
the vehicle has to be taxed to make the insurance valid!

Do not drive or leave vehicle on public road, if you do you are breaking the law and could end up with a crushed car.

New tax laws came into force recently that allows this to happen.
You are not to drive unless you have proper documentation:_ road tax and insurance.

Breaking the law leads to fine and jail, why risk it.
NO

It isn't legal to drive it

You have no current tax disc to display, which is an offence

If you get stopped, or a camera picks you up, you'll be busted

Despite what others may have said, wait 'till you can tax it
