If you learn to drive in a automatic car, do you still need to take the theory test?

Answers:
Yes. The only difference between the automatic and manual transmission tests is that if you do a course on the automatic car, you won't be legally allowed to drive a manual car. However, if you pass a manual transmission course, you are able to drive both types.

The theory and practical are the same other than that, so I'd recommend the manual course. It may be slightly trickier to learn the clutch and gear shift technique, but it's better in the long run.
yes!
You sure do
absolutely.
sure do u still got to know the road rules.
yes the only difference between passing on a auto as to a manual is if you pass on a auto you wont be able to drive a manual but if you pass on a manual you will be able to drive a auto is that clear
Yes. You will also need to take another test before you can drive a manual car.
Yes
this must be a UK driving related question. What's a theory test?
yes, of course, if you're gonna share the road with me, I'd rather you know the rules!
Yes you do. The theory test is to see if you recognise some of the road signs.
yea but it's not as difficult.
yeah. You'd have problems if not
Yes you do have to take your theory test or they wont let you take the practical without it.
And if you decide you want to drive a Manual car you have to take your test for that.
yes, the theory test has nothing to do with knowing how to drive a manual or automatic car, its about knowing the highway code, which all drivers should know as the rules of the road are there to help prevent accidents, not to be abused.
Yes! Hells teeth, are you absolutely SURE you want to go on the road? The only thing with an automatic is if and when do finally get your licence it will be marked 78 next to class B (Cars) which means you cannot drive anything other than an automatic.
YES!! The theory has nothing to do with whether the car is an auto or a manual. its about road safety, laws and regulations, oh and of course COMMON SENSE!

Can you let me know when you will be on the road?
Yes you do, and once you have passed in an automatic you will only be able to drive an automatic and unless you buy an automatic with a seriously large engine it will be very slow and frustrating, and the mpg returned by an automatic will be lower also.

Stick to learning in a manual, you can then drive whatever you like.
YES
Why wouldnt you
Yes.the theory/hazard perception test is exactly the same for any car whether manual or automatic. You drive on the same roads, read/use the same signs and road markings etc!
