Should I choose a 2003 Renault Megane 1.4 Authentique or a 2003 Ford Focus 1.6 Zetec for my next car?
Answers:
Forget the rest. They say that renaults are the safest but in reality they are the most troublesome cars on the road.
Beleive me, I work in a major breakers yard and we dont have a single focus in stock. Yet we have at least 26 lagunas with engines or gearboxes gone, electrical problems or just ended up on their roof. Now if that doesnt tell you what to go for.
Ford - Renault are too unreliable. I had a 2yr old Laguna company car, it was in the garage 11 times in 12 months - all for different things.
definitely the Megane.
the Megane for me
ford focus
trust me on this
Renault. More comfy, less crappy.
The Megane would win for me.
The Focus is a Chav car.
Ford Focus, it won't be going to the garage to be fixed as much as the Megane. Should certainly be trouble free for another 40,000 miles or so.
megane but you know what u should have. i think renaults are costly for parts and stuff and ford, i dunno. i think u should go for companies like vauxhall or nisan. pergeot i heard were costly too in maintenance.
has 2b ford all the way mate, im 33 now and always owned ford and although they might not be as reliable they are british and the z-tec is fords best engine yet..
Take the ford. Renaults are unreliable french buckets and expensive for parts and service costs.
The Focus is by far the best car.
Renault always get electrical faults and are always expensive to fix. Milage irrelavent, check for FSH.
Focus is an excellent buy. DO NOT BUY THE RENAULT.. just in case you were unsure!!
I have just ordered a Megane and having done the research found it the best option. Other answers are right the Renault Laguna was a horro vehicle for reliability. The Megane though is OK, leasing companies see it as a good car.
Better trim levels and comfort than the Focus, the Focus is a good car but in balance the Megane has more character and better value for money
Good luck and enjoy whichever car you choose
niether! You could buy a nice car for that sort of money. so why settle for one of those.
Stear clear (no punn intended) of FORD. Fix Or Repair Daily.
and FIAT. Fix It Again Tommorow.
Go for Honda or Nissan. Or if you want a big car. a Mercedes. I had one of these with well over 200,000 miles on it and it still drove perfectly!
Focus for the servicing costs
Megane for the style
In my opinion better stick to the VW Golf or Honda Civic
Yeah, but its French!
Seriously though, its probably harder to get parts for a Renault, since they're not made here. So, when it comes time to do maintenance, it'll take twice as long to get it fixed.
At least the Focus is common enough to avoid such problems.
Renaults do look cool, though. And you'd certainly have the novelty of driving a car nobody else has!
