Can I get insurance to cover the excess on my car insurance policy?

ie if i have an accident, the excess charged by my car insurance company will be paid by this other insurance policy

Answers:
Are you saying can you get a second policy in your name to be excess? If so, the answer is no. Not really sure if that's what you're asking or not.
Ive never heard of one. my suggestion would be to open a savings account and put a few qiud in to it each week towards the excess, and by the time your insurance has expired you should have a nice sum saved. (Fingers crossed the unfortunate doesnt happen) your excess will be reduced from say £300 to £250-£200 leaving you with a nice little treat.
(Excess is a punishment for having an accident. It feels like one)
No that I know of but if you have an accident and you can demonstrate it was the other person's fault you can claim the excess from the other person's insurance.
In general, no, you cannot get a policy to pay off your deductable. You can buy extra insurance for custom equipment on your vehicle or extra insurance to cover gaps if your car is totaled and you owe more than the amount the vehicle is worth to the bank.
Why? What your paying for the insurance to cover excess would the excess!
Are you asking "What if I have an accident and the claim amount is in excess of my auto policy can I buy other coverage?
If this is what you are asking, yes, you can. Some states like CA offer an excess policy, others offer an Umbrella Policy that will cover you for more than just auto excess. Mind you these are only for payments to the other party involved on the loss, not to you. If you want to be sure that your car is paid off due to an accident, buy GAP coverage.
