Car batteries, what is the difference between sealed, low maintenance, maintenance free.?
Answers:
A sealed battery generally means the the acid inside cannot be accessed .Where as a low maintenance type has removable plugs on the top that can be removed so that the acid level can be checked and topped up if needed.
If yours needed topping up and is now working ok i wouldn't worry to much .There are tablets that you can put into your battery to help prolong its life they are called BATAIDS you just put two into each cell.
Remember if you touch or move your battery wash your hands throughly afterwards you don't want to get acid on your skin or in your eyes.
have it tested at a garage and more to the point why was it dry? It sounds like your car is overcharging which could cause more problems.
buy a sealed battery if ou need 1 and there is no difference between sealed & low maint
The internal spacing of the battery plates is different and so is the type of acid used. You need to have the service checks performed at regular intervals and not wait until something goes wrong ( you wouldnt want battery to explode, which it can do)
If its less then 3 yrs old and you dont have any leaks, dont worry for this year. If its over 4 yrs old, you may need a new one but get it load tested first to check ( why spend money if you dont need to)
