Whats the website that I can tax my car on?

I bought my car last week, i haven't had log book through yet, so i haven't been sent the road tax paper work. when i bought the car the seller gave me a little green slip.. number 10 on the log book form and said i can tax my car with this . along with the usual insurance and mot certificate. is this right? if not can i tax it with out the road tax form you get through the post?

Answers:
DVLA. Not sure if you can tax it online being as you are the new owner though - it probably takes time to get you on the system. I think you might have to apply via post or at the post office for this time x
you might have to fill a form out at the p.o. or look on the dvla website, you can now tax your car on there

I'm not sure if you can do it onlne as you have to show original documents including you r drivers license and insurance docs and mot certificate. Take everthing yu have to the post office and they will help you.
DVLA web site: http://www.vehiclelicence.gov.uk/evlport.
You can ONLY tax it at a Post Office and you'll need to fill in a form to do it. V10 I think but check with dvla

Take green slip into Post office with your insurance details/certificate and the valid mot and they tax car for you there and then..i did it this way last week and i havent rec'd the log book/v5 yet either. And no you dont have to fill in a form either!
Hi, Yes you can providing you have insurance and mot then you have to go to your nearest DVLA office and tax it there
YOU NEED TO VISIT MAIN POSTOFFICE
www.direct.gov.uk/taxdisk
check with the DVLA

So long as the green slip has the 16 digit reference number on it, and you have your insurance and MOT details to hand you should be able to do it online. Maybe call them first and check they have you registered as the owner first.
When is the tax due for renewal?
you can only tax on line if you have the new style mot paper, thats the p/c logged one, also they check your ins so if you have only just got it ,it will not be on the record, but no harm in trying,
search dvla & follow links, they also will not take credit cards, it has to be bank debit card, hope this helps, good luck.
You can get a form from the post office. If memory serves me correctly it's called a V10.
