IT goes to a Throttle body! at the front of the air intake path after your air filter before the intake plenum(big metel log looking thing), inside there is a 'butterfly valve' which lets more/less air in. and has some wires attached (for the comp so it know what to do!).Dont break it!! but its only a cable so easy fix!(may also have some linkages). Go to a book shop and sqizz at repair manual!!
To the throttle body.
Your accelerator cable should come in next to your top air filter. If you remove the air filter then you should be able to see it next to the Cylinder Head and Spark Plugs.
the accelerater cable fits to a moveable unit which allows more fuel to the intake manifold through chambers called venturies
It is a single point injector system so it goes to the throttle body.
It goes from your accelerator pedal, through the bulkhead in to the engine bay, there it is connected directly to the linkage on your injection pump, which you will see when you remove the air filter housing.
how about the same place as you took the old one off, get someone to press it while you look in the engine bay for moveing parts.

I personally wouldn't ask him to work on my car. The accelerator cable has nothing whatsoever to do with fuel. Also fuel does not go through venturies. Fuel is delivered by injectors. These spray a set amount of fuel into the combustion chamber which is then mixed with air and ignited by a spark from a spark plug.

The amount of air is what makes the car go faster. When you press on the accelerator, a butterfly valve opens in the throttle body allowing more air into the intake manifold.

Your accelerator cable runs through the bulkhead to the throttle body.
The throttle body will look similar to this..

Hope this helps
it goes straight into your carberator, and if you have a manul choke the choke cable sits just beneath it
