Hard to sell an 8valve?

I havean 8 valve vauxhall astra with spoiler sxi alloys etc and really does look nice, trouble is everyone who comes to see is willing to buy it but is always put off that it is an 8 valve..
I have dropped the price to a realistic one, advertised in local paper, auto trader the lot, even posters outside my local vauxhall dealer, but it jsut wont sell! Any tips?

Answers:
Try re-marketing it as reliable, clean, economical - don't focus on the SXi or the alloys, or the 8 valve - you will attract a different kind of buyer.
the problem is that the astra is longsince defunct. also, the 16v is the best version.

i would buy a 16v badge and claim you dont know what sort it is cos you are not good with cars..pleading ignorance may fool em.
What have you dropped the price to?
New cars are dirt cheap now, many offer free finance, the second hand market has been dead for a few years .. unless the price is right.
To be honest there is not a huge difference between the 8v and 16v engines, a slight increase in mpg and 0-60 times but that is all. I think the main problem here is the ignorance of the people viewing the car. People tend to think that just because a car has a 16v badge on it, it's instantly quicker.
Just get the car as sparkly clean as you can, be realistic with what you want for it and don't put it for sale anywhere where there are better cars nearby e.g. your Vauxhall dealer.
I had a similar problem trying to sell my Audi a while back, just had to take a lowly offer in the end. Good luck.
the 8v is torquier and lives longer than the 16v which tends to be thrashed, the 8v will be cheaper when it comes to any work on the cylinder head and is in a lower insurance group.

Badge snobbery at the end of the day.
is the car too cheap? have readvertised cars that wouldnt shift for more money and they have then sold.
Tell them that a 16 valve engine is all very well, but to get the best from it you have to rev the t*ts off it. And you know that has mechanics the country over rubbing their hands in glee. The 8 valve is an easier engine to work on (shouldn't cost as much to fix if the worst comes to the worst) and in reality isn't appreciably slower than the 16.
Its the spoiler and alloys that put people off, nothing wrong with 8 valves more lower end torque than the 16v easier and cheaper to repair.
