New viaduct in france designed by a british architect?
Answers:
are you thinking of The Millau Bridge ? It's very impressive from the photos
see http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/europe/.
for tv footage it was featured in a Top Gear episode about 6months ago .. Clarkson & co driving their cool cars, sniggering about the fact that the architect was Britsh !
What is the problem if it OK.
British is Best.
Guarantied to fail or cost an enormous amount of money, that no one will ever pay back , I have yet to see an Anglo / French project that makes money Concorde, the Channel Tunnel ??
The viaduct at Millau was designed and built by French engineers, the input of the British architect was at the end of initial design to make the bridge look better. And a very good job too, but let's not pretend that all or most of the design work was British.
Incidentally, for those driving to the South West of France, this motorway, which starts south of Paris and continues until it (almost) joins the autoroute to Spain is both very cheap. . hundreds of kilometres for nothing, and spectacular and that is without the viaduct, which is icing on the cake. It is also only sparsely used, which will appeal to any driver who has done the Paris-Lyon-Montepellier run in July or August.
The Millau Viaduct takes the A75 autoroute over the Tarn Gorge at Millau.
The maximum height of the pillars is over 300m (1000 feet).
It is most impressive from below because there is little impression of height whilst driving across it.
