My vw polo is really chugging?
Answers:
When was the last time it had a tune-up? Could be plugs or the plug wiring. Could be crudded-up injectors. Could be lots of things.
Did this start suddenly? Or gradually? If suddenly, then I'd bet a small amount it is one of the plug wires.
sounds like you got the scottish version.
youll need a kilt start.
first of all i would change all the plugs leade & dissy cap
then give it a right good tune up
you carnt tune it up with old parts it will never run right

When was the last time the vehicle was properly serviced?
New plugs and leads, new cap and rotor-arm, new filters for air, oil and fuel, an oil-change, a diagnostic session, a brake-inspection?
Get it serviced and tuned-up, and any faulty parts replaced
Check spark plug leads and spark plugs a used spark plug should be brown grey in colour if light grey engine running cold if dark sooty fuel to rich check that there is no spark going to earth or shorting out also check high tension lead do this in a darken place leave engine ticking over if you see Sparks jumping about EG from lead to engine block Ect Change lead if this accrues also is the air cleaner on correct are the leads on correct timing firing order is the fuel getting to carb if fuel injectors are OK if fuel injection is OK could be head or valves check timing has cam belt slipped if it is cam belt if no joy after all these checked get diagnostic eqp at garage on it
how old is your polo ???
Is it misfiring? Even if is it should still go above 40mph. I would say the catalytic convertor is blocked. Kwik fit should check it for free, you dont have to have the work done there.
sounds like the timing could be out? i would check and reset the timing, and give it a really good service- new spark plugs, air filter, oil and filter, new dizzy cap and leads! good luck
needs a service
