I have just sold my vw golf which was registered SORN.?
Answers:
As far as I understand it it's up to the new owner to sort out the SORN if they want to put it back on the road.
However it is your responsibility to notify the DVLA that you are no longer teh registered owner of the vehicle. You need to fill out and send them section 9 from your log book (V5C), it's the yellow section. It's really important to do this or you could end up with speeding tickets etc for a car you don't own.
as long as they know about it then leave it to the new owner, its easier, they can do it all when they register it then x
New owners problem to sort out. Do you really want to pay for HIS car?
How can you put it 'on the road'? have you had MOT, tax and whatnot done?
You need to mention that when you send the papers off to the DVLA, informing them of the change in ownership.
Just make sure that the car gets transferred into the new owners details. I gave an old car of mine to a so called friend while it was on a SORN. She didn't bother registering it in her name, subsequently I got fined when the SORN hadn't been renewed!
All you have to do is send your piece of the form to the DVLA to inform them that you are no longer the registered keeper of the vehicle.
The new owner should then send his/her part of the form with their details.
Cover your own back.cause if the new owner does anything untoward..then it will be you that will be receiving the ****!
I thought it was the responsibility of the SELLER to arrange all that sort of thing when a car was sold.
The law changed a few years back as people were buying cars and not registering them so the DVLA changed the responsibility to the seller.
you just leave it to the new owner, its up to them.
If you are no longer to this vehicle and sum1 bought it off you, you must fill V5 of the new keeper and post to DVLA yourself and you only allow to give the green part slip to the new keeper the rest to DVLA
