How do I remove heavy scratches in my car laquer ?

I have scratches in my laquer which arnt down to paint level and I need to either remove them by polishing them out or some way of filling them and polishing over them, is this possible ?

Answers:
any kind of scratch polish (like meguirs scratch X) works well..

also you may need to have your car clayed and use some rubbing compound to lessen the appearance of the scratch.
T-Cut
You can get something called T Cut (not sure how it's spelt) supposed to be brill
T cut maybe - its available from all good motoring shops!
If the scratch hasnt touched the colored paint yet (it is just in the clear coat) then you should be able just to wax it out. Use a regular car wax and give it a few coats.
like eeveryone said T-cut is the way to go. ** good rule of thumb** if you can feel the scratch when rubbing it with youre finger nail.. its not coming out- good luck
Take it to a pro, they'll know how to do it. That's my BEST advice.
T Cut is good but it takes a layer of paint off and if you leave it on to long or use it in the sun it will discolor your car if you do use take care
Try meguiars scratch-x, avalible on ebay or halfords. £6.99. failing that a re spray will be required.
Goodluck.
